Modern Slave is a short narrative film about a young girl who is trapped in the commercial sex trade.  Dan Sima, co-writer and producer of the film, and Spencer Currie, co-writer and director of the project explore the apparent paradox, “How can the cage door be open but someone still be trapped inside?”  The girl is physically free to walk away, but emotionally stuck in a destructive and exploitative relationship from which she cannot extricate herself.

The film has just been chosen by Film Independent for fiscal sponsorship, meaning that donations toward the project are now tax deductible. The Modern Slave team is currently raising funds for festival submissions.  Any and all donations will help make this powerful, unique film available to the widest audience possible.

“We are honored that Film Independent, host of the Independent Spirit Awards and the LA Film Festival, has selected MODERN SLAVE for fiscal sponsorship.

Since they are a registered 501(c)(3), any donation given to our film through their platform will be tax deductible.

We are raising $5k to pay for over 50 film festival submissions. Please help us get there by making a donation. Any amount is truly appreciated!”
